“Messages from the Lorax” by Shannon Guest encourages readers to enjoy nature—and look closer.
Have you ever seen a tree smile? Or witnessed a cloud taking a certain shape on purpose? Photographer Shannon Guest asserts that nature attempts to communicate with us every day—she even has the photographs to prove it in “Messages from the Lorax, Photographs of the Expression of Nature.”
Guest’s photos capture a certain flair in nature that most of us overlook; whether her work features a rock or a tree, each picture aims to instill a deeper perception of nature’s expression to the reader.
“I would like to open their minds to the possibility that nature is making efforts to communicate with us on our terms by expressing themselves into forms that we can readily recognize if we take the time to notice,” says Guest. “There is more there than just meets the eye.”
Some might view “Messages from the Lorax” as a fun, nature-themed version similar to the popular “I-Spy” series, but Guest hopes readers will examine her photographs with a critical eye and an open mind.
“Messages from the Lorax” fits perfectly with the popular, advancing green movement, which puts the environment first. Guest does the same in this photographic display of nature’s beauty and its unbelievable capabilities. Through “Messages from the Lorax,” Guest hopes that readers will find a new appreciation for nature and begin to view their surroundings with a new set of eyes.
