GENERAL INFORMATION – Spiritual Journeys

Exploring the essence of God within and the universe beyond.

(1) ANYONE can participate! You don’t have to be enrolled in Thomas’s classes to join in. You are even encouraged to pass this information along to anyone else you think would be a good “fit.”

(2) We will meet on the 2nd Sunday of the month (except for the month of May when we meet on the first Sunday) Meetings start at 10:30 in our home in New Richmond. We encourage the participation of men, women, young adults, and/or whole families.

(3) It is not necessary for you to attend all these gatherings. Just come when you can.

(4) Each month, we’ll hear a member’s spiritual journey, discuss a topic, listen to a recorded message from Thomas, and end with a prayer. A light lunch will follow during which people are encouraged to stay, talk, and get to know people better. After each gathering, we will stay connected on a face book page and via e-mail where we can share further thoughts. In this way, we can stay connected from one meeting to the next!

(5) We can host 15 - 20 participants each month due to the size of our home. We currently have 13 who regularly attend, so it is filing up. Don’t wait to sign up!

(6) There is a general outline of topics (on the next page), but we are open to letting the group go where the “spirit moves us”.

OCTOBER – THE PURPOSE OF LIFE Why are we here? What is considered a good life? What is the purpose of religion? What is the difference between religion and dogma? Is there one right religion? What can I learn from life and from other religions?

NOVEMBER – GOOD vs. EVIL How do we define ‘good’? Did God create evil? If not, from where does it come? What are dark and white souls? Is Satan real? Are all human beings capable of change? Is it our duty to fight evil or protect ourselves from it?

DECEMBER– JESUS Who was he? What was his purpose on earth? Was he divine? Was he the son of God? What did he teach us? What is the real story of his life? Is it different from what we’ve been taught?

************************* Spiritual Journeys – What we do at each meeting…. **************************

10:00 am – Arrival. Just like Thomas with his classes, we plan to start ON TIME. We encourage arrival around 10am so there is time to settle in, etc. The actual study group will begin promptly at 10:30. 10:30 – Welcome/Announcements 10:35 – Personal Spiritual Journey** – Each month, one person will share with the group his/her own personal spiritual journey. (Please note: you are not required to do this. We ask for a volunteer each month.) 10:50 – Discussion of monthly topic/question. 11:30 – Recorded message from Thomas. – Thomas will record a message for us for each monthly topic. (Thanks, Thomas!) After we discuss the topic, we will listen to Thomas’s message. Discussion will follow. 11:55 – Ending prayer**. Each month, we are asking someone in the group to prepare a prayer to end our discussion which, if possible , will pull together the topic of the month. Noon - ?? Light lunch, mingling, conversation, fellowship. **All past spiritual journey stories and prayers are posted on our facebook page. Follow-Up: A few days after we meet, I will send out via e-mail and post on our facebook page a summary of what we discussed at our gathering. We invite everyone to add their own personal reflections, to share any further revelations, propose any questions, etc..
